"Opening a Chrysaline Heart

The day has finally arrived to speak of a new book. When it is at least a digital reality. As I've noted in the past, I am near red/green color blind, and on top of that I am really lousy at color schemes, as per my late wife. All true though. I was able to wrangle my son over this afternoon to help me math colors of my old and very good friend William Britton; or Brit. It is his photo that adorns the book cover, with the backside now what I had wanted; after an IT lesson on how the program works.
I do not call myself a poet. That somehow sounds like a credential, demanding I wear a red Beenie and smoking jacket, and one of those long cigarette holders in hand, while going on and on about the yacht. Don't have a yacht either. And I've tried; hard. I write poetry as that urge invades my thinking every twenty years and I'm compelled to keep penning lines. Little reason to add that my default position is satire. Except when penning lines of poetry, as that usually arrives through the emotional connections I have with the subjects I write about. As becomes obvious when reading the poems.
Each section of poetry represents a different time period of my life. I included the time periods on the interleaf pages. Having written all of the work I do have favorites. It were the two center sections of "Journey from the Child" and "Seeking he Way" are for me the work I continue to aspire to, as the words rang true while holding to Poetic expectations, especially using the Iambic style. In the poem "The Old House" the first two stanzas were in Iambic Tetrameter, the final two stanzas were in Iambic Pentameter; four and five feet each line. I also found a rhythm that flowed for me, and one that I return to many times.
If, as readers you enjoy poetry I urge you to try out the preview option on the listing page, once I've mounted the book, which will be tomorrow. This is a opening peak at what's coming. If you lasted until now, many thinks to reading my words. I do believe you might enjoy my poetry as well.
